Nov 07, 2017

‘Going Cashless - Perceptions, Usage and Behaviour toward Digital Payments in India: Pre and Post Demonetisation’, a study report on digital payments by Centre for Digital Financial Inclusion at IMFR in collaboration with Digital Innovation Lab at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore was released in Bengaluru on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

The research study report is a spin-off of an ongoing research study, “Facilitators of cashless transactions in Retail Supply Chains with specific reference to Kirana stores”, to map behavioural patterns pertaining to cashless payments with reference to Kirana stores.

Designed in the form of a readable book with infographics, this academic report captures perceptions, usage and behaviour toward digital payments, pre and post-demonetisation.

The release of the report, which coincided with the one-year anniversary of the momentous demonetisation announcement made by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on November 8, 2016, was also extensively covered in the media.

Speaking at the release function, Prof G. Raghuram, Director, IIM Bangalore, described the research report as a useful and timely one. “The focus areas now should be on the challenges, such as awareness creation and literacy. The other areas needing attention are issues surrounding infrastructure and connectivity. I hope all this has policy implications,” he said.

Additionally, after the release, a copy of the report was also handed over to Sh. Surjit Bhalla, Member of PM’s Economic Advisory Council.
